Sunshine Is Here Again!

As the Rio Olympics were declared closed this Monday, India returns with a victory far greater than any single sport. These girl on top have proved that adversity, patriarchy, discrimination and the long list of hardships that women in India are ever so familiar with  are things we are capable of not just overcoming, but also overthrowing. I am sure all the peoples in their lives who have doubted them, pulled them down,
scoffed at their dreams, tried to streamline them into being an 'AADARSH LADKI', ridiculed their body, dismissed their efforts, rolled their eyes at their priorities, blamed them for not being 'regular', heckled/fought about/debated about/argued about/questioned/disallowed their attire, patronized them for their choices, or plain simple shrugged for their struggle are today sitting red in the face with their foot in their mouths, starting at their screens watching these Queens taking their crowns just like they one day said they would.

All of these ceases to bother you once you REACH the top, but here is a reminder to ask us girls on our WAY to the top: the struggle is real, so is the prize. The stories of Sindhu, Sakshi, Dipa, Aditi are inspiring to say the least. Their struggles are different and in their own ways they have emerged much stronger and victorious. Watching them had filled our heart with pride and encouragement. Thank you for showing the sporting world in India that girls are at top. What they did, they made India, not just proud, but also hopeful. We are certain that their efforts and achievements to be the key for our preparation of Tokyo 2020.

Thank you girls and congratulations!
We bow you in respect.
