Concept Of Motivation: A Different Approach

Much has been written on motivation and stuff. So now it’s the time to examine motivation from a quite different perspective or a point of view. Basically the motivation is driven from two head springs:

1.            Internal Motivation:

The Motivation that drives from within. It is that consistently burning fire inside us, which pushes us to forward, and gives us a boost to achieve what others can’t.

2.            External Motivation:

And as we are all quite aware of this, it’s the motivation that we gather from the external sources,

which fuel us to generate the heat within us. Those sources might be the books we read, movies we watch, people we hear from or many other similar things.

Getting straight down the point, both kinds of motivations have their own importance and felicities but, there’s this fact which says internal motivation is far superior as compared to external. I’ll tell you why!

•             “External Motivation is temporary”. The effect of external motivation is temporary. It’s like the injected fuel, which doesn’t last for long i.e., for a short duration of time. But Internal Motivation is a long term phenomenon. It is effective until the Targeted Goal is achieved.

•             External Motivation is for achieving short term goals. But when considering long term plans or goals, we need a constant fire in ourselves, we need that permanent source of fuel within us and hence Internal Motivation comes handy.

•             External Motivation is induced by the Surrounding whereas the Internal Motivation is induced by our souls.

Taking this reality to the ground level, let’s consider a situation. A student pursuing his bachelors mostly aims to clear the topmost exams of the country. But as in today’s era, those exams have become hard nuts to crack. Students keep on preparing for such exams for years, yet they are unable to crack them. But at the same time there are a handful of students who clear such exams in one go itself.

What’s the basic difference between those few students and rest of the aspirants? What more do they put into their hard work? What’s their special ingredient which turns their hard work into the sweet success?

The basic problem with most of us is that we easily get influenced to what others say to us or what we see in others. We get the touch of external motivation over our skin and we get charged up to take the bull by the horns. But this doesn’t go a long way. The external motivation is temporary, it evaporates with the heat.

The thing with those few successful students is that they are internally motivated. They know what they are doing and they have nothing to do with the external factors. The internal motivation is the result of their determination as they are not influenced by the world, they know their potential and they don’t let anyone else to comment over that. And that’s how they are internally motivated. This internal motivation of theirs keeps their hopes alive and lets them do all the hard work that is required.

How to get internal motivation?

Well, it is self induced. It depends upon person’s own interest and character and also his surroundings. The level of internal motivation will be high when you are doing something which you really want to do, and not doing just for the sake of parents or money. Thus it depends on person to person. So do whatever you like to do. Don’t be fooled by the Effects of External Motivation as it has a very short life span. So don’t listen what others have to say like “Beta Yeh Karlo Isme Bahut Scope hai!!”

Follow your heart. Follow your Dreams.
Internal motivation will help you succeed, gain internal piece and satiety and bring out the gem inside you.

Ending with BOB MARLEY’s Famous Quote:
“Every man gotta right to decide his own destiny.”
